Episode #117 Interview with Phelesia Foster, PhD, Epidemiologist and Health Coach

Meet Dr. Phelesia Foster

Dr. Phelesia Foster has a laboratory background as a chemist but currently works as a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). She is also a certified health coach and the founder of 4Ever Wellness.

Dr. Foster is passionate about all things related to health and wellness. For the last 15 years, she has been reading, researching, and working with women in Cleveland, MS to promote wellness.

She has a strong desire to meet families within her local community and globally at their current level of health awareness and educate them on simple, effective ways they can live healthier, happier lives.

She says, It's All About Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude, and Nutrition!

She became interested in health and nutrition over a decade ago when her life was turned upside down with a chronic disease diagnosis. This newly diagnosed health challenge prompted her desire to learn more about health and nutrition. She began to realize how important her Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition choices were, both for herself and her family.

Her journey landed her a peer coaching position with a local Chiropractor which further sparked her interest in health as well as a desire to pursue an advanced degree. Public Health was her most obvious choice because of the many opportunities to positively influence health within her community as well as globally. While pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology, Dr. Foster saw a need for health coaching within her local community. Given her background as a peer health coach, she decided to officially obtain a certification in health coaching.

Dr. Foster received her Health Coach Certification from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute, founded by world-renowned physician and author, Dr. William Sears. The Institute is a leader in science-based health and wellness education that focuses on the four pillars of health; Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition (L.E.A.N.). A certification by the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute is obtained only after completing the extensive course work and meeting all requirements. Once certified, a Health Coach possesses the knowledge, tools and resources to make a positive difference in the health of others.
